2013 Recipient – Susanna Fournier
The selection committee of The CAYLE CHERNIN AWARD is pleased to announce its second recipient: Susanna Fournier for her play The Philosopher’s Wife. Susanna is an actor and emerging playwright. On screen she appears regularly on SyFy’s hit show Being Human, and upcoming in CBC’s feature Still Life. Her writing has been awarded by Tarragon Theatre, the Toronto Fringe Festival, and most recently an Honourable Mention in the Herman Voaden National Playwriting Competition.

Natasha is an actor, writer and director. Most recently, she was part of the 2014-2015 National Arts Centre’s English Theatre Ensemble, where she played Alice, in Alice Through the Looking Glass, and Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest. Natasha is currently co-creating and starring in the web series Flush, a coming of age story set only in bathrooms. Flush is the recipient of the 2015 Bravo Fact grant: www.flushtheseries.com
Natasha applied to the Cayle Chernin Award in 2013 to write a play called The Offering exploring death, ritual, and road trips. She wants to drive to Mexico to research the Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. She will one day write that play.
Kat Sandler for We Are the Bomb.
Kat Sandler has worked in Toronto as an actor, writer, and director since she graduated from Queen’s University in 2008. She founded Theatre Brouhaha in 2011 with long-time collaborator Tom McGee in an effort to create accessible theatre for the HBO Generation, and has produced seven plays in the last 16 months, five of them original.
